Writing a Five Paragraph Paper

February 3rd, 2009

When the common five paragraph paper is a type seldom if though necessary for writers to use, it is typically assigned to students in order to assist them in organizing and developing their thoughts in writing. This can be a very helpful way for writers to create a complete and obvious reply to a paper question on an examination.
It is important for writers to know that a five paragraph essay comprises of the introduction, three paragraphs of the main body, and the conclusion.
The introduction starts with a common discussion of the selected subject and guides to an exact statement of the main point, also called thesis. The thesis must tell in several sentences what your argument or point is, and in brief, about what the paragraphs of your main body will be.
Every paragraph of your main body will concentrate on one idea, example, or reason, which sustains your thesis. Every paragraph must have an apparent topic sentence, in other words, a mini thesis stating the key concept of the paragraph as well as discussion or explanation necessary to clarify the point. Also, you should attempt to use some details and specific instances to make your thoughts clear and persuasive.
Your conclusion starts with a restatement of the main point, but you should be sure to paraphrase, but not just state again your thesis sentence. Also, you should add several sentences, which emphasize the topic’s importance and your opinion’s significance. You need to think about what feeling or idea you would like to leave your audience with.
